AIM: To improve the lives of vulnerable people at Kakuma Refugee Camp, Turkana and Koyonzo, Kenya through education, permaculture and sustainable support.

Kakuma Refugee Camp is home to around 160,00 refugees, many fleeing the civil war in South Sudan, but also from Sudan, Somalia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Ethiopia, Uganda and other countries. It was built for short term accommodation (for the Sudanese “Lost Boys”) but is now 30 years old. It sits in Turkana County, one of the poorest regions in Kenya and which is alternately very hot and dry with regular severe flash flooding. The Turkana region is also known for instability and inter-tribal violence.

Faulu Production is a refugee-led community-based organisation in the camp, working on many fronts to support vulnerable refugees. Permaculture for Sustainable Communities (PFSC) is an initiative of a group of Kenyans, working on sustainable food production. The two groups work in partnership and since early 2018, their initiatives have been supported by a generous group of Australians, led by Dave Harris.  This has led to significant increased activity and many positive outcomes (see links below).

From July 2021 THREE for All Foundation is proud to be supporting Faulu Production, PFSC and Dave to continue and grow this important work. Dave will join THREE as our Project Manager supporting the fantastic and important work of Faulu and PFSC, and THREE will provide technical, capacity building and fundraising support to help Faulu and PFSC achieve their aims.

The focus of our combined work is on sustainability, environment and education, all of which are key challenges for refugees in Kakuma and for the Turkana and Koyonzo communities around the camp. Check out the links below for information about current and past activities, and stay tuned as our partnership grows.
